Often while working with TDS sync you might be getting the below error :
'Duplicate Sitecore ID's found in files sitecore\layout.item and sitecore\layout.item'
I wanted to share this article as I get this error several times and wanted to let you know what I do to fix it. It is not necessary that the fix happens by any of the listed. I have just mentioned the solutions which worked for me.
1. TDS caching I- Try closing and reopening visual studio as it will clear the TDS cache. Sometimes caching is the issue.
2. TDS caching II -
a) Go to Tools→Options→TDS Options and set Background Cache Loading to
b) Restart Visual Studio
c) Set Background Cache Loading back to
3. Open the TDS project in text editor and remove the duplicate items . Re-sync the items. It works without any problems.
4. Push Items - when nothing works and if dependency is not an issue, you can select individuals items and use the option of 'Quick Push', this will push your desired item to sitecore instance.
